    Battery Maintenance Tips

  • Keep your batteries fully charged. Regardless of how often you use your scooter or power chair, you should charge the batteries every day for 8-12 hours.
  • Determine how long you allow the batteries to charge. Continuous undercharging will reduce the battery life.
  • It takes 8-14 hours to fully charge a battery.
  • Avoid exposing your batteries to extreme temperatures. Both heat and cold can affect the battery life.
  • Never use an extension cord with your battery charger. Your charger should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet.
  • Batteries over a year old may need to be replaced if the range declines over time.

  • Extending the Life of Your Scooter or Powerchair

  • When on an all-day outing, try to plug it in to recharge the batteries. It is a good idea to recharge when your meter shows you have about ½ of the charge left. Most restaurants and shopping malls will have an outlet you can use.
  • Pay attention to your scooter or power wheel chair, if it begins to operate abnormally have it serviced by an authorized repair center.
  • The longer you wait the more problems may develop, costing you more to repair.
  • When transporting your scooter or power chair on an outside vehicle lift it is always a good idea to keep it covered with a waterproof cover. Electrical devices and rain do not play well together.
  • Do not wash your scooter or power chair with a hose. Use only a towel and mild cleaner such as glass cleaner.
  • Never leave your scooter or power chair outside where it could be exposed to water.
  • Don't overload your scooter or power wheelchair by letting children ride with you. This could cause costly repairs.
  • Do not try to repair your electric scooter or wheelchair yourself.
  • Don't let your batteries go completely dead or they may not re-charge properly.
  • You can't "over charge" your scooter or power chair.
  • As with any motorized device a scooter or power chair that has been stored and un-used for an extended period will require service before use.

  • For Your Safety

  • Remember to lock the wheels on your 4 wheel walker before sitting down or standing up.
  • Check the operation of the brakes on your walker or wheelchair. If they are not operating properly bring it in and we will make the proper adjustments. There is usually no charge for this service.
